Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What should I expect if I contact you for therapy?

If we feel we may be able support you with your needs, we will offer you an initial 20-minute free online consultation via videocall.

During this free consultation, we will discuss what your needs and requirements are in more detail and decide if working together is a good way forward.

If we decide to work together, we will meet you for a two-session assessment and begin to develop a plan for therapy that is tailored to your needs and goals. In some occasions it may be necessary to extend the assessment over more sessions.

At Weleful we provide online and face-to-face sessions. For face-to-face sessions we use therapy rooms in central Colchester, Essex. For online sessions we use Zoom.

Sessions are usually on a weekly basis and usually last 50mins.

We will regularly review your needs, and this will inform how we move forward in therapy and when we bring therapy to an end.

If we feel unable to support you with your needs on initial contact or at any point subsequently, we endeavour to signpost you to other sources of support.

What should I consider if having online sessions?

It is important to find a comfortable, quiet, private and uninterrupted space for you to have your online sessions from.

Please also consider your location in relation to the connection to the internet, i.e. the connection to be as strong as possible.

You may want to place your laptop on a safe surface or prop your mobile or tablet up safely so that you are not holding onto the device during the 50-minute session.

Think about having sufficient lighting (natural or artificial) so that the therapist can see you. Please avoid, if possible, sitting with your back towards a window as this can impact on how visible you are on the screen.

You may want to consider wearing earphones as this can reduce feedback during the videocall.

Clients are not permitted to record sessions.

How do I use Zoom for videocalls?

If you are using a laptop or computer to join the video call, click on the link that your therapist sent you.

If you are using a mobile or a tablet device, you will need to download the Zoom app first.
